Aleksandr Laveykin

BIOGRAPHY
Aleksandr Ivanovich Laveykin (born 1 February 1951 in Moscow) is a retired Russian cosmonaut and former Soviet Air Force colonel. Selected as part of the NPOE‑4 group in 1978, he flew his sole spaceflight aboard Soyuz TM‑2 to the Mir space station in 1987, spending 174 days, 3 hours, and 25 minutes in orbit. During the mission he performed three EVAs totaling 9 hours and 36 minutes, contributing to the assembly and maintenance of Mir. After retiring from the cosmonaut corps, Laveykin worked in the Russian aerospace industry. He has been awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Star, and the Spaceflight Medal.
